Martha Levandowski, Longtime CPAN Administrative Director and Advocate for Crash Survivors, to Retire After 15 Years of Service

LANSING, Mich.--(July 30, 2026)—Following 15 years of dedicated service, CPAN today announced the retirement of Martha Levandowski, who has served as the organization's administrative director since 2011.

July 31 is Levandowski’s final day as administrative director; however, she will continue contracting with CPAN over the coming months to support the transition to a new leader.

"Martha has been the heart and soul of CPAN for 15 years," said Margaret Kroese, CPAN Board Chair. "Through every policy battle and every hard-won victory, she was the steady hand that kept us moving forward. On behalf of the entire board and the community she served so faithfully, I want to thank Martha for her extraordinary service.”

Levandowski was regarded as a steady and committed presence who kept CPAN's operations running with consistency and integrity through years of consequential policy and legal fights, including the landmark Andary v. USAA decision, in which the Michigan Supreme Court reinstated care for about 17,000 crash survivors injured before 2019.

Under her tenure, CPAN earned extensive recognition, including six Diamond Awards from the Michigan Society of Association Executives and three PACE Awards from the Public Relations Society of America. In 2015, Levandowski was honored with the Catalina Andres Humanitarian Award for her tireless advocacy on behalf of auto accident survivors. Earlier this year, she was recognized with a special tribute at the Brain Injury Association of Michigan’s Legacy Society Dinner.

"Walking away is bittersweet, but I do so knowing that CPAN's mission is stronger than ever and that this organization is in exceptionally good hands. I have no doubt CPAN will continue to be a fierce and steadfast champion for Michigan's crash survivors for many years to come.” 

CPAN plans to announce a new executive director next week.
