CPAN: Governor has once again failed to step up to the plate and show real leadership

LANSING, Mich. – (Jan. 26, 2022) — The following statement can be attributed to Devin Hutchings, president of CPAN, in response to tonight's State of the State address.

“By declining to address Michigan’s catastrophic care crisis during her State of the State address tonight, the Governor has once again failed to step up to the plate and show real leadership. Thanks to an abundance of third-party data, we know that the 45% cut in reimbursements for catastrophic care has had devastating consequences for survivors and caregivers alike. Two bills—House Bill 5986 and HB 5500—will help address Michigan’s catastrophic care crisis and protect crash victims and the providers who care for them. Gov. Whitmer and the Legislature must work together to ensure these bills are signed into law as soon as possible to avoid further suffering and devastation.”
